DfT Syllabus - Certified Aviation Security Manager Training Available From Rapiscan Systems Learning Academy

The ASM course is a five-day intensive training programme that will equip you with the knowledge and skills to ensure that your aviation security programme and its implementation meet the requirements of the National Aviation Security Programme (NASP).

The NASP is the UK’s framework for aviation security, which sets out the standards and measures that all aviation operators and service providers must comply with. The NASP is based on international and national legislation, as well as the current threat assessment.

By taking the ASM course, you will learn how to:

• Understand the legal framework of aviation security and the current threat.
• Define the role and responsibilities of an Aviation Security Manager.
• Develop and implement a security programme that meets the NASP requirements.
• Manage security procedures and operations effectively and efficiently.
• Assess and mitigate security risks in your organisation.
• Communicate and coordinate with stakeholders and authorities.
• Monitor and evaluate security performance and compliance.

The ASM course will follow the Department for Transport (DfT) syllabus for ASM training, which provides information and guidance to effectively implement security procedures that not only manage the risk but enhance operations. The course will also include classroom instruction, group discussions, video footage, case studies and practical exercises.

The course will be delivered by certified instructors who have extensive experience and expertise in aviation security. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a DfT certificate that is valid for three years after which a refresher course is required.

The ASM course is specifically designed for UK security managers employed by airports, airlines (and their agents), cargo regulated agents, in-flight suppliers, airport suppliers and security providers.
